Dawson Forest WMA and other close areas.
We will meet at Dawson Forest and Rock Creek Park for an easy morning of birding in old fields, wetlands, freshwater pond, and mixed pine/hardwood forests looking for winter sparrows like Fox, Savannah, Vesper, Swamp, White-crowned, White-throated plus Song and Field. Also winter residents like kinglets, creepers, Yellow-rumped Warblers.
Drive north or south on GA 400, turn west on Dawson Forest Road. Continue 4.5 miles to Hwy 9, cross over and continue to the end of the road at the entrance to Dawson Forest WMA at the gate. We will meet at the wetland right there.
Stay tuned for a night visit to Rock Creek Park for a view and listen of the resident American Woodcock.
